2011 dawns us to start fresh a brand-spanking New Year with of course, new ambitions and projects. I for one have decided to tackle my all-time project, which I believe to be ambitious yet challenging, and that is to snap and upload a new photograph to my Flickr account, to inspire others and to use this time to develop my own photography skills that will hopefully spur new ways to capture my imagination. I will be using my favourite (and only) SLR camera, my Canon 350D which I bought from Hong Kong four years ago. I also own and carry a Panasonic Lumix DMC-LX5 on most days in the hope of capturing anything out of the ordinary, when I journey into work or university. The major benefit of having the Lumix LX5 is the ability to capture 720p HD video on the go. Mind you, I would consider 1080p to be true HD, but 720p will suffice on my tight-student budget. I hope to buy the new Canon 5D Mark III, which I believe is due later this year.

Nevertheless, the Canon 350D is my trusty companion, particularly when it takes the Compact Flash memory cards, unlike the modern equivalent, which uses SD/SDHC/SDXC cards instead. I use the Lexar Professional UDMA 300x CF cards purely for the hi-speed, which I invested several years back when it was the leading technology, and I own three 8GB CF cards. I hope to achieve a collection of 365 photographs from this side project, and I will be uploading them to my Flickr account and use certain shots to reflect upon them here. For the aspiring techies among you, I will disclose the EXIF meta data through my Flickr.
