I grew up reading the Our Daily Bread series. I later discovered My Utmost for His Highest and Our Daily Journey, which is maintained by RBC Ministries (Radio Bible Class) – later rebranded as Our Daily Bread Ministries.

Unfortunately, my favourite devotional that offers the deeper reflections – that is Our Daily Journey was axed in late 2018. I find ODB a little too swift and need more meat to chew. I know and subscribe to the new Journey Through series from ODB, but I do like the sporadic readings of Scripture. My favourite book of the Bible is Proverbs, so much insightful wisdom. Most believers prefer Psalms as their favourite. I guess I’m the oddball to think wisdom is cool. Well, as some would say, brainy is the new sexy…

Anyhow, I have been dipping in and out of John Piper’s Solid Joys Daily Devotional series. I think it’s cool to tune in to the podcast version and hear Pastor John deliver each daily devotional in spoken Word, as he transcribes it from the devotional mobile app.

Outside of my daily devotional notifications, I was profoundly encouraged by today’s Word from Romans 10:17. I am sharing three personal translations. The NLT that suits my intellect and speaks to me directly. The ESV if I feel the need of shock and awe deliverance. And the NASB for the most literal translation.

(NLT) So faith comes from hearing, that is, hearing the Good News about Christ.

(ESV) So faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ.

(NASB) So faith comes from hearing, and hearing by the word of Christ.

It inspired me of a technical concept that I have been brewing behind the scenes of an app for fellow brothers and sisters in Christ. Although, it didn’t have the ability to HEAR God’s Word.

I will cut short on this reflection, as I don’t want to spill too much beans, but nonetheless, I was encouraged to bookmark the verse to reflect on it again for later.
